Located in the very heart of Marin is the bucolic San Geronimo Valley, for years the best kept secret in the Bay Area. A welcoming and warm community consisting of four villages, , each with their own character: Woodacre, San Geronimo, Forest Knolls and Lagunitas. The Valley, as it is called locally, occupies the border of rural West Marin; 20-30 minutes from Point Reyes Station and the National Seashore and 10-15 from the quaint town and amenities of Fairfax. It is ideally located out of the path of development, surrounded by protected forested hills with “civilization” safely and conveniently “over-the-hill”.

The Valley is diverse and down-to-earth. You will not find much pretension here as people just want to peacefully and quietly live their lives surrounded by the beauty of nature and open spaces. It has been and continues to be a magnet for families who want to raise their kids in a tightly knit, safe community with good, local schools. The pace of life is slower and friendlier than you’ll find most everywhere else.

At the head of The Valley lies easily accessed Woodacre, an amalgam of idyllic attributes. You find people regularly strolling through the streets of “the Flats” along with horses from Dickson Ranch and the Creekside Equestrian Center. Buddhist Spirit Rock Meditation Center anchors the spiritual life of many locals as well as people from around the country who come for retreats. The playground, pool, tennis courts and auditorium of the Woodacre Improvement Club are community focal points along with the adjoining little league ballfield. The hub of the village is the Woodacre Country Market & Deli along with the post office a short block away, where residents continually cross paths and chat.  The multitude of trailheads provide hikers, bikers and riders access to the forests, meadows, vistas of the ridge and the backcountry wilderness within the Marin Municipal Water District. Volunteer-built Central Park and the headquarters of the Marin County Fire department lend more character. Altogether, it is truly a pocket of paradise.
